In collaboration with Eva Fantoni
PILE OU FACE consists of two responding 192-page editions that examine competition, defined as an attitude of rivalry and contest among several members pursuing the same goal. The project is split into two distinct yet deeply interconnected volumes that answer the question: "WHAT IS COMPETITION ?" One volume investigates what it means to WIN, while the other explores what it means to LOSE.
Functioning as a research-driven editorial experiment, the project investigates how visual language and imagery can transmit specific narratives, emotions, and messages simply through juxtaposition. By placing disparate images* side-by-side, often completely detached from their original contexts and gathered freely from open internet research, the layouts allow visuals to converse with one another across the spread, creating new semantic dialogues.
Tools: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

The Creative Process
I focused on the concept of winning. This involved extensive internet archive and media research to collect imagery that evokes victory across a broad spectrum of fields, including :
- Internet memes and pop culture
- Cinema and music
- Sports and athletics
- Everyday life victory
- Video games and digital culture
Visually, the two books mirror and respond to each other through a strict chromatic code: navy blue anchors the themes of defeat and losing, while vibrant yellow and ochre embody the energy, triumph, and warmth of winning.
